We are seeking a Rehabilitation Support Worker to provide an exceptional service for our client in York. This is a rewarding opportunity to be a part of our clients rehabilitation journey and support our client to achieve as much independence as possible. You will be working closely within a team helping to ensure that a continuity of care is provided to our clients.
We recognise the hard work, flexibility and commitment of our people so we offer a wide range of employee benefits, such as a thorough induction programme, on-going training to develop new and existing skills and a great employee Rewards scheme, where you will be able to receive a variety of discounts from major retailers.
About The Role
Your role will be dedicated to supporting an 8-year-old child with complex care needs. It will involve supporting them in their day-to-day life, providing overnight care, and ensuring their comfort and safety.
The child lives between two households, both homes are located close to each other, and shifts will alternate between the two locations. The child is non-verbal and communicates through facial expressions. Personal care is required.
Night shifts will require you to ensure the child is settled and comfortable, with half-hourly visual checks once they are asleep. You will also oversee the overnight feeding system, ensuring the correct amounts are delivered and performing required water flushes. In the morning, if the child is awake, you will assist them in getting up, dressed, and ready for the day. Occasionally, parents may request help with small household tasks, such as ironing.
The role may also involve administering low-dose oxygen via a concentrator if necessary. The child is fully dependent for all transfers and uses a wheelchair. There is a tracking system in place at one household and a mobile hoist at the other household. The child also uses different specialized chairs for positioning throughout the day.
We are looking for a patient, attentive, and empathetic individual with a strong understanding of complex care needs. While experience with personal care and hoisting is beneficial, full training will be provided. Flexibility is essential to accommodate the shift requirements across both homes.
This post will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service Check
